Frequently Asked Questions:
- What is the difference between a dietitian and a nutritionist?
A Registered Dietitian is qualified by education and a national credentialing examination to be considered the food and nutrition expert. To earn the RD status, one must complete a supervised practice program approved by the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education (CADE) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Upon completion of course study and a clinical internship, the candidate then must pass a national exam and complete continuing professional education requirements to retain registration.
Individuals may use the title nutritionist, nutrition counselor or nutrition advisor, regardless of their education and credentials.
- What services do you provide?
• I offer private nutritional counseling to individuals, groups, sports teams and families.
• I am also a certified specialist in sports dietetics (CSSD) and work with elite, master and adolescent athletes, both individually and with teams.
• I specialize in weight management, diabetes, renal nutrition/CKD, oncology nutrition, sports nutrition, and GI disorders.
- How often should I plan on meeting with you?
We will decide together after our first meeting how best to go forward. Some clients require only one or two meetings when they are seeking basic nutrition information or for a specific condition. Others may want to meet with once a week, once a month or for a check-in when they feel the need.
